You might wonder: why Sikyon? It was one of the smaller ancient Greek cities, about twenty miles West of Corinth and (now - it is uncertain how much the coastline has moved) a few miles inland. It was the subject of Audrey's thesis and subsequent book. From time to time, since our first trips to Greece together after our marriage, we have stayed at the modern coastal town and holiday resort (Kiato) and visited the ancient site, now the village of Vasiliko. Excavations are still continuing.
